On October 8th,1898 Hanoi Professional School was established pursuant to the Decision of Hanoi Chamber of Commerce. This school was renamed as Hanoi Technical School in 1931.
On August 29, 1913 Haiphong Professional School was established under the Decree of the Governor General of Indochina. This school was renamed as Hai Phong Technical School in 1921.
On February 15, 1955, the Intermediate Technical School I organised the first new school year opening ceremony for Intake I at number 2F, Quang Trung Street, where Hanoi Technical School was located.
In 1956, Technical Workers Training School I started to deliver courses for Intake I at the locationof Haiphong Technical School (in May To Street, Haiphong City). In time of war the school was evacuated to Bac Giang.
In 1962, Intermediate Technical School I started their diploma program and was renamed as School of Electrical Engineering. In 1966, the school was renamed as Mechanical Engineering School I. In 1993, it got its former name –Hanoi Technical School. During the war, the school was evacuated to Vinh Phuc.
In 1986, Workers Technical Training School I was moved to Minh Khai commune, Tu Liem district, Hanoi.
In 1991, Hanoi Technical was moved to Tay Tuu commune, Tu Liem district, Hanoi
On April 22, 1997, Ministry of Industry issued Decision No. 580 / QD - TCCB on merging the 2 schools : Technical Workers Training School I and Hanoi Technical School and got the name of Intermediate School of Industry I.
Decision No. 126 / QD - TTg of the Prime Minister was signed on May 28, 1999 to establish Hanoi Industrial College based on School of Industry I.
Decision No. 315/2005 / QD- TTG signed on December 2nd, 2005 by the Prime Minister was to inform the establishment of Hanoi University of Industry, based on Hanoi Industrial College.
